Why is this player being nominated?
Thomas, or "Dirt" as he is affectionately known, is what I would describe as a "coach's dream". Dirt brings a very high energy level, full effort, grit, and great leadership characteristics to every practice and game. He leads by example on and off the ice and does a great job of setting the tone for the rest of the team. Dirt has an extremely high Hockey IQ, which makes him very reliable in all 3 zones of the ice, often called upon for an important defensive zone face off or to kill a penalty. He has great offensive upside and has been working very hard on his quick release shot, which has not gone unnoticed. His teammates love being around him and love playing with him. Dirt possesses many intangibles in his game that will continue to set him up for success at whatever level of hockey he plays at. I am very proud to call myself his coach.
Highlight a specific moment or example that reflects their contribution this month:
There isn't a specific moment that sticks out, largely due to the fact that he brings such high energy and compete every game. I just really enjoy watching him out compete and out work every opponent on the ice. He's got "that dog in him", and I love watching him compete with his teammates.
