Why is this player being nominated?
Mason brings a consistent effort and energy to every practice and game, which really sets the tone for his teammates. Even as a first year player, Mason exhibits great leadership characteristics by continually encouraging his teammates on the bench and leading by example on the ice. Mason has incredible offensive instincts, but has worked extremely hard to improve his skills in the defensive size of the game. He brings high energy, high compete, and a tremendous amount of tenacity every time he steps out on the ice. He is the true definition of the term "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog". Mason is loved by his teammates and coaches alike.
Highlight a specific moment or example that reflects their contribution this month:
As a player from Olds, he had the opportunity to play against West Central in Olds in front of family and friends where he put on a great show, collecting a goal and an assist and propel his team to a win.
During a practice earlier on in the month where the team was flying and working hard, he signals me over to him, gives me a head nod and a grin, then states "Hey coach, the boys are Buzzin'!!". It demonstrated his larger than life personality and his love for his teammates.
