Why is this player being nominated?
Zach Chubey has really excelled both on and off the ice, but what sticks out the most is his leadership. Zach is a very big presence in the dressing room and will be one of the first to congratulate a teammate after a big moment or support someone who needs encouragement. Zach's skill set and impact is not limited to his leadership. When on the ice, everyone in the arena waits for his wicked snapshot, or for him to burn an opposing defenceman. Zach's skill set makes him a constant offensive threat and a difference maker in key moments.

Zach’s leadership cannot be defined by a single play because it is demonstrated consistently before, during, and after every game. When it is time to focus and take the moment seriously, his demeanor sets the tone for the entire team. Beyond his talent, Zach’s character, and his ability to see hockey as more than just a game truly distinguishes him as a leader and role model.
One of Chubey's favorite things to do in the winters is spend many hours on his backyard ODR with friends and family. Additionally, Hockey is not the only sport he loves to be involved in, as throughout the off seasons he transitions to BMX. Zach has had the opportunity to represent his club and race all over Canada, in the USA, and even Denmark.
