AAA Hockey - Program Description

Program

Cochrane area athletes wishing to play elite hockey in Alberta are eligible to play AAA hockey in our zone.  Male e
lite hockey is described in the ADM elite hockey document on the Hockey Alberta Website.  Female elite hockey is described in the Female elite hockey document.    

Cochrane area players  need completed permission forms for both tryout camps and conditioning camps.  Please use the elite hockey notification of tryout form
on the Hockey Alberta website.  Once completed by the player, permission forms should be forwarded to the Cochrane Minor Hockey office in the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre, or e-mailed to cmhadmin@telus.net, or phone the office at (403) 932-9341 for more information.  If you wish to participate in a conditioning camp you must also complete the permission form for conditioning camps.

Bantam AAA

Cochrane area players are encouraged to try out for Bantam AAA with the Aidrie Xtreme which plays in the Alberta Major Bantam League (AMBHL)
.  This team is supervised by the Foothills AAA Hockey Association, with representatives from the sponsoring Minor Hockey Associations.  Players will normally receive an invitation to try out during the summer after their PeeWee season.  Conditioning camp and tryouts start in late August.  Xtreme has an open tryout policy, so that all players in the draw zone are treated equally in tryouts.  Players are carded by Airdrie Minor Hockey Association.  For a list of the Minor Hockey Associations in the Xtreme draw zone, please see to the Hockey Alberta ADM elite hockey document referred to above.

Minor Midget AAA

Minor Midget AAA is for 15 year old players.  The AC Avalanche plays in the Southern Alberta Midget League (SAML), and is jointly supervised by Cochrane Minor Hockey and Airdrie Minor Hockey.  The draw zone for this team is the same as for the Airdrie Xtreme.  Players are carded by Airdrie Minor Hockey Association.                   AC Avalanche Registration Form.

Midget AAA

Cochrane area players are encouraged to try out for Midget AAA with the UFA Bisons, which plays in the Alberta Midget League (AMHL).  This team is supervised by the Foothills AAA Hockey Association.  Conditioning and tryout camps are in late August each year.  For more information contact Neil Glionna, Manager, UFA Bisons, at (403) 934-6293.

Female Midget AAA

Cochrane area female hockey players are encouraged to try out for the Highwood Raiders, who play in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.  For more information please see the Okotoks Oilers Athletic Association website. for on-line registration please go to the following webiste ooaaoilershockey

Female Bantam AAA

A Female Bantam AAA team had been approved in this zone for the 2009/10 season, to be administered by Okotoks Minor Hockey.  For registration and additional information, please refer to the Okotoks Oilers Athletice Association website as described in the Female Midget AAA section.  A portion of the practices and games will be located in Cochrane; it is anticipated that one practice a week and half of the home games will be played in Cochrane.  The On-line registration is now available by clicking the following website ooaaoilershockey.
