Bernie Fox was a coach and board member with Cochrane Minor Hockey. He was also a mentor, a role model, and a force of positivity in the community he worked and lived. As a dedicated volunteer with Cochrane Minor Hockey, he poured his heart into everything he did. Coach Bernie had a special way of making connections, making sure every player felt valued and was having fun. His impact reached far beyond the rink. Bernie’s approach to coaching hockey was the same approach he took to his career as a plumber and gas fitter. He believed that success came from hard work, mentorship, integrity and the willingness to lend a hand. He knew that no one succeeds alone, and he was always there to build up those around him. His larger-than-life presence made him the kind of coach players never forget, and the kind of tradesperson people trusted and respected.
This scholarship is a tribute to Bernie’s belief in lifting others up, those he inspired, the friendships built and the community he strengthened along the way.
